Tall Cotton

"Tall Cotton" features Sendero rig 6 drilling a short vertical well for Pioneer Natural Resources near the small farming comunity of Tarzan Texas.  The emphasis here is the detail in some of the best looking cotton you will ever see.  The camera was mounted in a vacuum enclosure 110 inches above ground level.  The use of a perspective control lens means that each bowel of cotton is perfectly in focus from foreground to horizon as well the drilling rig and spectacular late November sunset.  The image is composed of 4.24 billion pixels and is engineered to be a 12x24 foot fine art mural.

A large mule dear appears to stand guard in front of Unit Corp. drilling rig 125 operating in The Wind River Mountains of Western Wyoming. Each year herds of antelope and mule dear come down from the heavy snow pack of the Tetons and Yellowstone National Park to winter over in this area.  Over the years exploration has decreased with natural gas prices and now only a few rigs remain.  With the introduction of wolves to the area the mule dear now can now been seen using the the remaining rigs for cover.  Fine art oil & gas photography by Robert D. "The Onset Of Chaos"  A lone pump jack stands idle in the still air moments before the passage of an arctic front drops the temperature by 35 degrees in in fifteen minutes.  This is a 60 megapixel high resolution infrared sepia toned black& white image photographed in early spring on the Northern high plains of Eastern New Mexico.  The image is also available in color. An Unfinished Story (2013)

"An Unfinished Story" was originally just a test shot from an infrared modified camera on a new location I was scouting in March of 2014. The image has since become a popular item in my Sepia Collection.  Look for a grand color or sepia panoramic from this location featuring the large thunderstorm complexes that frequently move out of Southern Colorado into the Texas Panhandle over the Summer months.  Most of the locations I choose to photograph are scouted months or years in advance. Particular weather events provide the backdrop I am looking for. Wide open locations like this one where the camera is directed northeast provide an incredible foreground for a thunderstorm complex up to 200 miles away.   The image here was captured utilizing a new prototype 100 inch tripod and panoramic head from Really Right Stuff.  The height above the ground contributes to the view all the way to the horizon miles away.  Oil & Gas Photography for fine art by Robert D. Infinite Recursion (2015)

A crude oil  tanker truck begins its two hour round trip beneath a stormy sky on a location near Antelope Ridge New Mexico.  Day and night this Infinite Recursion hard on man and machine is necessary to bring the nations oil to market.  Antelope Ridge New Mexico is the sweet spot for productive new plays in the Western Delaware Basin of West Texas and Eastern New Mexico with new wells producing upward of 2000 barrels of oil daily. New drilling activity continues here like nowhere else in the Permian Basin.  Fine Art Oil & Gas Photography By Robert D. Flaherty. Photo © copyright by Robert D. Flaherty.

Last Breath (2014)

"Last Breath"  Features a Sentry pump jack or pumping unit on the Texas and New Mexico border in far Northern Culberson County Texas.  While this is oil production, this area of the Delaware Basin has been the stage for substantial deep lateral gas plays by companies such as Cimarex, Anadarko and EOG Resources.  The Image was taken in January 2014.  The unit is shown here without the Sentry Brand but may be included upon request.  The wide open landscape of Northern Culberson County has been a favorite backdrop for my Oil & Gas work since first photographing here in early 2012.  I have a number of upcoming commissioned projects based here throughout 2014.  Oil & Gas Photography by Robert D. Edge Of Day Sepia

This is the sepia version of "Edge Of Day" an old pump jack photographed in January 2010 on a Concho Federal lease in Eddy County New Mexico. The location was taken out of service in late 2012 but remains one of my most popular images especially in large format. The color image was converted to sepia at the request of a Houston interior designer.   I liked it so much that decided to add it to the Sepia Collection. Photo © copyright by Robert D. Flaherty.
